Rigidax® Removal Recommendation with SamSol® Dewax
The Development History of Semi-Aqueous and Samsol® Dewax. The first alternative was hot oil. The high temperatures of the oil could remove the residue wax, however, it created the need for an additional degreasing step in order to remove the oil from the parts. Thus cleaning and rinsing the oil became a new non-value added headache for the industry. In the later 1990s, chemists starting adding solvents to the oil to increase the bath life and they added surfactants so the oil-based solvent could be more easily rinsed from the parts. These days, continual research and development has improved semi-aqueous wax removal significantly. Samsol® Dewax semi-aqueous solvent is the newest aerospace-approved product. Instead of melting the wax, it dissolves the wax so it can be used at process temperatures lower than 100°C. The excellent solubility also allows for a 40% wax loading of the solvent. This increases the bath life, reduces equipment downtime and lowers the running cost. Instead of being oil-based, Samsol® Dewax, is bio-based making it quite safe for both the environment and human health. One of the greatest improvements that Samsol® Dewax attained over the older semi-aqueous formulations, is that it rinses faster and more completely. Whether, Samsol® Dewax is rinsed with just water or with an aqueous rinse aid, Samsol® Dewax, will rinse more easily than any other dewaxing product. Samsol ® Dewax semi-aqueous solvent is particularly effective for removing Rigidax® thermoplastics and it is also effective on high melting point soils such as waxes, pitches, grease, fixturing compounds, and buffing compounds. Its high flash point and low odour make it ideal for use in applications where elevated temperatures aid in soil removal. Samsol Dewax is also effective for removing most common metalworking soils including oils, greases, lubricants, coolants, and dye penetrants.
